VoTC Community Meeting Recap Nov 9, 2023

-Discussion on Emergency Services Bylaw and charging for carbon monoxide (CO) calls. The next Council meeting includes a delegation from a resident requesting that his invoice for a carbon monoxide alarm response be waived.
-Some residents believed that the new Emergency Services Bylaw had all Fire Department responses included in taxes. That is apparently not the case….only specifically “fire related” responses.
-More discussion on fire bills and the possibility that TC now sits in the Forrest fire protection program
-Discussion on Coffee with Council and how that went, how many attended, items brought up, who took notes, etc.
-Emails sent to the councillors and congratulating Janine, and who responded.
-Discussion on the surveys on local elections put out by the province and encouragement to complete them.
-More discussion on the varying opinions of whether local candidates should share their partisan affiliations and what impacts this may have (as this was one of the questions in the Survey)
-A community member brought more natural health product cards to be sent to our MP and everyone took some to hand out.
-Next meeting decided for the 26th at 4pm (this will be a “special” meeting again just like the October 30th one. There will be no meeting on the 23rd.
-Discussion on the defeated LUB and that we need to get ready to take action again if they try to revisit.
